Houston Chronicle Interviews Dr. Mandelbaum about Texans Brian Cushing's Torn MCL

Texans middle linebacker Brian Cushing suffered a relatively common knee injury in NFL circles: a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Because it's a Grade 2 sprain, Cushing won't need surgery and is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks.

The Chronicle spoke with Dr. Bert Mandelbaum, an orthopedic surgeon and co-chair of medical affairs at the Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles.
